It’s important to stay on top of your eye health and although a routine eye examination can help you do that, it might not tell you everything you need to know. Here at Squire Opticians, we are proud to offer 3D OCT scans so that you can gain a more in-depth picture of what is going on with your eyes.
An OCT scan is a non-invasive imaging test which captures pictures of your eye. These images create a 3D picture of your retina so that we can get a detailed map of its structure and health. From this, we can identify any problems and diseases before they become advanced, including:
An OCT scan forms a part of an advanced eye test which takes approximately 45 minutes in total. The scan is completely painless and non-invasive.
At the start of your test, depending on the individual, we may need to apply some eye drops to dilate your pupils. This is so we can get a clear view of your retina, which covers the back part of your eye. We’ll then take images of your retina which will be digitally constructed into a 3D model. Next, we’ll analyse these results by exploring each layer of the retina so that we can accurately diagnose any potential eye conditions or damage.
Results from the test are instant and are recorded on file so that during any future visits for an OCT scan, we can easily see any changes which may have occurred in your eyes since your last test.
