As an independent opticians, we offer many different types and brands of contact lenses and our specialist optometrists will fit the right one based on your lifestyle and prescription. Because of this many people who have previously tried lenses elsewhere but have had problems, have been successfully refitted by us.
All our fittings and check-ups are done by Optometrists, who have a higher qualifications than the Contact Lens Opticians commonly employed by larger chains. Some of our Optometrists work within Hospital Eye Departments such as Moorfields, and as such are very experienced in all aspects of fitting, including complex cases.
Dry eye is quickly becoming more common in children with the increase in time spent viewing computer or television screens and performing a great deal of concentrated close work. If you have noticed that your child frequently has tired or red eyes, excessive blinking, watering eyes or they are rubbing their eyes a lot; a dry eye assessment with our specialist optometrists is recommended.
Contact lenses for children are a great alternative to glasses and there is no minimum age at which children can start wearing contact lenses. For many sports and activities wearing contact lenses is safer than wearing glasses. With the advance in lens technology and the availability of disposable lenses, it is perfectly safe for children to wear contact lenses.
Great for full time wearers, reusable contact lenses have been around for many years and come in a variety of shapes, sizes and materials. These contact lenses rely on greater care, as they must last up to 1 month but, they can be more cost effective when worn full time. The wide range of reusable lenses means that they can be better for people with stronger prescriptions (which may not be available in a daily disposable).
